Sojourners Pub Church exists to serve God and His people by offering a safe haven for all children of God to come and experience His love and care.
As the overarching mission of Pub Church is to bring people together to worship from all walks of life, there are many aspects of the traditional "church" that do not apply to Sojourners. The traditional church hopes to refine and complete a person's life with God, whereas Pub Church inspires the beginning part of that process - reconnecting and refocusing.
Our Mission
It is the mission of Sojourners Pub Church to reconnect and refocus people toward God. It does not matter how far they have strayed from the path; God always offers a way back.
Our Vision
We strive to spend the next few years building up an established network of participating pubs, taverns, and bars with a healthy regular attendance and assured volunteerism.
What We Believe
Affiliation
Pub Church is ecumenical and non-denominational. It is our goal to help a person find God in their life and to bring them closer to the Spirit.
Membership
There is no formal "membership" of Sojourners Pub Church. We accept all people who walk through the doors and are willing to be a part of the worship experience. To come to Pub Church is to be a member or congregant of our community whether it is weekly, monthly, yearly, or otherwise. No matter where you come from, or where you are going, you are welcome here.
Creed
Mark 12:30 - "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength."
Matthew 19:19 - "Honor your father and mother, and love your neighbor as yourself."
We are all sinners, but we are also all loved children of God.
Faith
Faith in Christ will lead us to forgiveness, redemption, and healing. Prayer alone will not "fix" or "save" us. We are a fallen people, and our "long home" is not here on Earth. We must couple prayer with action, intent, challenge, and hope.
God created us. God created our image, our feelings, our will. God created Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God and King of Creation. We come to celebrate His rule, to remember His sacrifice, and to heed His commandments.
Music
The music used in Pub Church represents life on Earth and life with God. Sometimes we hear music and feel joy, or sadness, or calmness, or frustration. These feelings are real and present because God made them as God made us.
Therefore, some of the music we play will come straight from scripture and will speak directly of the teachings of God and Jesus Christ. And some of the music will come from the words of others - a means to inspire happiness or sadness, joy or heartbreak. God creates us and creates our music.
Love
We are all loved children of God. All of us. No exceptions.
Where Do We Go From Here?
Sojourners accepts people from all previous and current religions or denominations, from all instances of agnosticism or atheism, from all stories of damage or failure, from all desires for relationship with God.
Some may move from Pub Church to a new home church. Some may stay only at Pub Church. And many may (and do) attend both.
Despite being held in a bar, Pub Church is family-friendly. All ages are welcome to join us.
